Both Windows and macOS have a lot of integrated offerings in which there is more zip back in your device. For instance, you can use the Defragment and Optimize Drive tool in Windows so that your device will be cleaned up so that you can use applications easier.
Use your operating system’s integrated tools
Another Windows application you can look for from the task bar is Disk Clean-up. This tool can remove all files on disk that you may not need for long such as temporary files, old system update files, cached files from the website and so on. When you choose each category, you can get to know how much space you can free up.
When it comes to macOS, you should open the Apple menu, choose About This Mac and then move to the Storage tab. If you click Manage, you will see a lot of options to clean up your device such as removing temporary files to wiping downloaded movies that you have watched.
The nuclear option
While it is often ignored, it seems to be the most effective task. You can go right back to the beginning and start using your device like you have just purchased it from the store. Before you can do this, you should be sure that all of your files are backed up safely in another location so that you can then reinstall all the apps and games conveniently.
The process seems to be so straightforward in Windows. If you open up Settings through the icon on the Start menu, you will see Update and Security option, so you click Recovery in order to reset your personal computer. The result is a totally new version of Windows, and your laptop can operate as its original version.
On the other hand, the process on macOS is more involved. You have to restart your computer, then hold down the keys Command and R when it reboots. When the macOS Utilities window turns up, you choose Reinstall macOS and finally you can follow all the instructions on the screen.
